Current Studies

We're currently running several studies at the lab. Some topics we're focused on include shyness, parent and teen interactions, and stress in family relationships.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the ongoing pandemic, we are pausing all in-person assessments for Summer & Fall 2021 Semester.  We had moved all lab activities virtually.

Shyness Evaluation

Picture
A study investigating the best ways to assess shyness in teenagers. CAIP is recruiting parents who have a teenager aged 14-15 years who may have problems with shyness in social situations, and wish for their teens to receive a screening and feedback on whether diagnostic testing for shyness is warranted. This assessment would last approximately 3 to 4 hours, and consist of a series of questionnaires, interviews, and other behavioral tasks with trained staff that both  the parents and teens will participate in. The assessment is provided at no-charge and the parents and their teens would receive $100 ($50 to parents/$50 to teens) to cover the costs of transportation and time commitment for the screening. Based on the screening, our staff would provide feedback to parents on whether the teen should receive formal diagnostic testing.

How Parents and Teens Interact

Picture
A study on how teenagers think and act when they are with their parents.  CAIP is recruiting families who have a teenager aged 14-15 years, and are willing to come to CAIP to participate in a study. Participation in this study would consist of parents and teenagers coming to the CAIP lab to complete an assessment consisting of a series of questionnaires, interviews, and videotaped activities that assess how teenagers and their parents think and act around each other. The study would last approximately 3 to 4 hours and the parents and their teens would be compensated $100 ($50 to parents/ $50 to teens) to cover the costs of transportation and time commitment for the study.

Stress in Family Relationships

CAIP is conducting a study on stress within family relationships. CAIP is recruiting families who have a full time employed parent, a teenager aged 14-16 years, and are willing to come to CAIP to participate in a study. Participation in this study would consist of parents and teenagers coming to the CAIP clinic to complete an assessment consisting of a series of questionnaires, interviews, and videotaped activities that assess how teenagers and their parents think and act around each other. The study would last for approximately 5 hours and you would be compensated for your participation. Families would receive $100 to cover the costs of transportation and time commitment for the study. Of this $100, we would give you $50 and your teen $50.
